What My Patients Say:
Frequently Asked Questions
Why Should I see a Physical Therapist?
Physical therapists are trained in helping people regain any functional loss. They are experts in human physical movement, posture, ergonomics, wellness, fitness, stretching exercise, and how to avoid potential injuries.
Physical therapy is an evidence-based and conservative health care option for management of virtually all neurological, muscular, and skeletal conditions.
Physical therapists are specialists in this unique field and can help persons afflicted with conditions in these areas regain normal movement patterns, functional abilities, and pain-free daily life.
How often will I need to come to physical therapy?
We tailor treatments to each person’s individual needs, goals, and medical conditions.
During your initial evaluation session your physical therapist will help identify and communicate to you an estimated prognosis duration required to achieve your stated goals.
Courses of treatment range from as few as a single session to 12 or more treatment sessions for complicated or severe conditions. Many of our patients complete physical therapy in 8-12 sessions.
Do I need a physician referral or can I just make an appointment?
Anyone can see a physical therapist for services without a referral. Medicare and PPO insurances will cover these visits but HMOs will require a referral from your primary doctor.
Please check with your insurance to see if they will cover physical therapy without a referral.
What health insurances do you accept?
Physical Therapy accepts most major PPO insurance carriers.
We are contracted with major insurance carriers including, but are not limited to, PPO/HMO BlueCross, BlueShield, Medicare, Workers Compensation plans, First Choice, some MediCals and many others.
Premium Physical therapy customer care staff will be happy to verify your health care benefits.
Depending on your plan you might be responsible for co-pays and deductible amounts.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please arrive about 10 minutes early to complete paperwork and check-in.
To save time you can download our Initial Patient Information paperwork from our website, and fill it out and bring it with you.
Additionally, bring your insurance card, identification, a list of medications, and your doctor’s referral.
What should I wear to my first appointment?
Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your visits. There is a changing area if you need to change your clothes.
If you have a hip, knee, or ankle issue, you can bring shorts, but we also have shorts available.
Females with shoulder or neck problems should wear a tank top that will help to complete a proper evaluation.
My physician has given me a referral that specifies another physical therapy clinic.
You have the right to choose your physical therapy provider.
Your physician may make recommendations based on the relationship that she or he has with other physical therapy providers, but you have the right to request any provider you wish.
How long will visits last?
Your first visit will usually require one hour to evaluate and treat.
Other visits differ depending on the severity of your condition.
